    Our Detroit Dreams birth doulas support families at hospitals, birth centers, and home births across Metro Detroit.

  • We have birth doulas throughout Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Genesee, Ingham, & Livingston counties including: Ann Arbor, Detroit, Birmingham, Ferndale, Royal Oak, Southfield, Novi, West Bloomfield, Farmington Hills, Dearborn, Canton, Plymouth, Livonia, Grosse Pointe, Ypsilanti, Lansing, and nearby communities.

    If you're outside this area, reach out as we may still be able to match you with a doula depending on availability & location.

  • We recommend booking a birth doula between 14–28 weeks of pregnancy to secure your preferred doula and ensure time for prenatal visits.
    However, we frequently support families who hire a doula in the third trimester or even last minute! If you're later in your pregnancy, we’ll still match you as quickly as possible.

  • Your doula joins you when early labor becomes active or when you request support. They provide hands-on comfort measures (counterpressure, positioning, breathing support), create a calming environment, help you understand options, and remain with you continuously through birth.
    Detroit Dreams doulas support births at all Metro Detroit hospitals, including Beaumont/Corewell Royal Oak and Troy, Henry Ford West Bloomfield, Ascension, Sparrow, and home births with local midwives.

  • Yes, many Metro Detroit families use Carrot Fertility or Maven benefits to cover or partially reimburse birth and postpartum doula services. Coverage varies by employer, but most plans include reimbursement for birth doula support.

    We have many birth & postpartum doulas on the Carrot directory and they can provide itemized invoices and all necessary documentation for easy reimbursement.

  • Absolutely. Doulas support all birth preferences including epidurals, unmedicated birth, VBAC, inductions, and planned or unplanned cesareans. Your doula helps you feel calm, informed, and supported no matter how your birth unfolds.

  • All birth doula services include birth planning and preparation in the prenatal visits with your birth doula.
