Trying to conceive is supposed to feel exciting. Hopeful. Full of possibilities. But for so many families, it quickly becomes overwhelming, confusing, and deeply emotional. Month after month, you ride a rollercoaster of hope, worry, questions, and sometimes heartbreak.

If you’re navigating this journey right now, I want you to know I’ve been there. And so what I’m sharing today is coming from a heartfelt place of true understanding and a desire to help others navigate a journey I know all too well.

As a fertility doula serving Metro Detroit, I walk beside individuals and couples who are trying to conceive, whether they’re exploring natural conception, assisted reproductive technology, or a mix of both. I don’t know what’s worse—the moment the pregnancy test confirms what you already suspected, or the days that follow, stuck in limbo, waiting for your period to finally show up and put an end to the cycle. That empty white space on the test? I’ve stared at it more times than I can count, willing a second line to appear. Maybe if I tilt it under the light? Maybe if I wait a few more minutes? But no. It’s negative. Again. And now I just want my period to start so I can move on.
