Metro Detroit Fertility Resources

I know what it feels like to try everything to have a baby naturally and still feel like the clock is ticking. I struggled with unexplained infertility and spent three years trying every “natural” method I could find… acupuncture, supplements, dietary changes, cycle tracking… all hoping that one day it would just click. I experienced 3 losses along the way, which were simply devastating. Some days I had immense hope, certain that this cycle would be the one. Other days I felt like it would never happen. The emotional rollercoaster was intense.

After three years, I finally decided to work with a reproductive endocrinologist. I did ovulation induction with timed intercourse 6 times and felt like I hit my limit. It wasn’t until my RE encouraged me to give IUI a try that I really started researching more options. In the end, my first IUI was successful and in order to stay pregnant, I had to be on blood thinners for an autoimmune disorder called antiphosphilipid syndrome that was discovered during my fertility panel.

It was a whirlwind to say the least. All the appointments, tests, and constant decisions were overwhelming and exhausting, but it showed me the importance of having support. That journey is what led me to become a fertility doula. I wanted to help other people feel supported while navigating the complexities of fertility in Metro Detroit.

If you’re trying to have a baby, no matter how long you’ve been on this journey, know this: you have options. You just need to know what’s out there, who does what, and how to build a team that works for you.

Fertility Doula Support Metro Detroit

So what exactly does a fertility doula do? I offer education on fertility awareness methods, cycle tracking, personalized resources & recommendations for your fertility journey, nutritional guidance, appointment preparation, emotional support through treatment navigation, and early pregnancy guidance. Once you’re pregnant, I can also connect you with one of our amazing birth doulas for continuity of care.

I know the intensity of making these decisions. A fertility doula helps you stay grounded, make informed choices, and feel supported no matter what path you take. You don’t have to compromise your beliefs, and if you struggle to advocate for yourself or need help getting answers, I’m your gal!

Now What Are Your Next Steps? How to Build Your Fertility Plan

Building your fertility plan isn’t about doing everything at once, because that will just add to the overwhelm. Whatever path you take, you’ll want to start with a baseline assessment from one of the NaPro practitioners or Reproductive Endocrinologists. This may include a variety of labs, assessment of your overall health and cycle health, as well as some imaging.

Once you’ve had your consult, you’ll receive recommendations based on your unique health history or fertility goals. From there you can consider adding in holistic supports like acupuncture, Mayan Abdominal Therapy, or bodywork to encourage overall reproductive wellness.

While I may be biased, you’ll also probably want emotional support. Fertility challenges can feel isolating, confusing, and overwhelming. Having a fertility doula, a therapist or a trusted friend can help you in staying grounded.

Lastly, I want to remind you that your plan doesn’t have to be linear… mine sure as heck wasn’t! Some people combine medical interventions like IUI or IVF with holistic therapies and doulas from day one. Others start with natural approaches, then layer in medical care when it feels right. The key is flexibility, self-awareness, and having support in place so you can make informed, confident decisions. You don’t have to compromise your beliefs, and if advocating for yourself feels impossible at times, reach out to someone who can help.
