Pregnancy & Postpartum Date Nights in Metro Detroit

Whether you are looking for a stay-cation style babymoon, are aiming to ease those pregnancy cravings, or are finally able to go get the  sushi you’ve been dreaming about for the last 9 months, we have some favorite date night ideas for Metro Detroit.

Are those pregnancy cravings getting you? Go ahead and feed them while you enjoy a night out with your boo. If you don’t want to completely throw out all the healthy pregnancy nutrition recommendations. try out Tomatoes Apizza over in Farmington Hills. They specialize in New Haven style pizza, but the thing that may keep you from having after dinner guilt is the “green” pizza, which is a great option for vegetarians or those who are suffering from pregnancy meat aversions. Looking for original “Detroit Style” pizza? Check out Cloverleaf Bar & Restaurant over in Eastpointe. The eatery was established by Buddy’s founder Gus Guerra. Their menu selections are sure to satisfy anyone’s craving for true Detroit style pizza.

If you are desperate for a good burger, give one of these a try. One popular spot that checks off the boxes for those pregnancy carvings is Honest John’s Bar and No Grill. With dine-in or carry-out options available you can choose from a variety of delicious meals including breakfast or dinner burgers. Another great choice is Mercury Burger & Bar in Corktown. They have 15 different burger options ranging from the classic with lettuce, tomato, pickle and onion to a salmon burger. There is a little something for just about everyone on the menu. Grab your order to go and head over to neighboring Roosevelt Park and enjoy some fresh air and a delicious burger al fresco.

Looking for a Saturday morning brunch and nature walk? Try starting at the Hudson Café on Woodward. They offer eclectic twists on classics as well as the tried and true breakfast standards. Then head over to Belle Isle for a leisurely walk to help you digest brunch and stop by the Anna Scripts Whitcomb Conservatory. These glass bio domes aren’t just a pretty sight to take in from the outside. Inside, the conservatory houses some of the largest orchid collections in the country. It is also the longest continually running conservatory in the country! Take in all the tropical and exotic plants, meander through the five distinct indoor areas, and take in more of the Belle Isle Conservancy outside by wandering through the formal gardens or sitting by the lily pond.

It might seem a bit crazy but taking a lovely before or after dinner walk at the Z Lot could be just the ticket for a nice evening out. Hear us out… your doula said you could always walk that baby out, and this is a wonderful chance to walk while enjoying some of the many murals along the walls of one of the largest parking structures in Detroit. Located on Library Street time your outing to catch the view at sundown and watch the beautiful sunset across the city skyline. Z Lot puts you right in the heart of downtown Detroit with access to all types of cuisine, from sushi (great things are said about Wasabi over on Kirby Street), pizza or something a little fancier. Your options are wide open!

Date nights are great for any relationship, but especially as you go through pregnancy and postpartum. Finding intentional time to spend together not only helps relieve stress, but can also boost that oxytocin which is key for bonding, breastfeeding and even getting labor going!
